Microchipping

It is sadly not uncommon for dogs and cats to get lost or stolen every year and many never find their way back home again. Microchipping gives them the best chance for being reunited with you as collars or tags could be easily removed or lost.

A microchip can be scanned by a vet within just few seconds.

Microchipping involves inserting a small, sterile device, usually the size of small grain of rice, underneath the skin between the shoulder blades, containing a 15 digit serial number, which can be scanned and checked against a microchip database.

Price of the service: £20 per pet

Dogs

It is a legal requirement to microchip all dogs over 8 weeks of age and ensure the details associated with the microchip are kept up to date.

Cats

Microchipping of all cats will be a legal requirement from 10th of June 2024 by the time they reach 20 weeks of age, and to ensure the details are kept up to date.

We recommend to microchip all cats even before the date, due to the benefits mentioned above.

Other pets

It is currently not a legal requirement to microchip any other pet species we treat.

We would be happy to assist you on request.
